MAINTENANCE & CARE FOR LEATHERED OR HONED GRANITES

The maintenance on leathered granites is not too different from the maintenance on polished materials.

When cleaning your leathered granite it is recommended to use a neutral or mild soap like dishing washing liquid diluted in some water to wipe the counters down. Do not allow oily substances to sit on the material for extended periods of time. Even though granites are hard, oils can still slowly penetrate the pores of the stone and leave a mark. That is why we always recommend a coat of sealer on any material, which will give you more time to wipe your tops clean. Sealing is recommended annually or when you find that watermarks are starting to appear more regularly.

With Granites that have a matt or unpolished finish we find that you may leave finger marks on the stone if your hands are oily, these should wipe away with a cloth and some dishwashing liquid.
